Joanne has years of experience offering editing services for writers. She is a published fiction author and writing teacher with an academic background (PhD in English Literature).

She is very proficient giving editorial feedback to fiction and non-fiction writers, as well as high school, college, and graduate students.

Currently, Joanne offers two developmental editing services: "First Three Chapters" and "Short Form."

First Three Chapters – Developmental Edit ($800)

Whether you're writing a novel, non-fiction, academic manuscript, or memoir, it's imperative to make your opening chapters really sing! Agents and editors predominantly consider just these chapters on their first pass and retaining their interest is vital. Through years of supporting authors, Joanne has learned that the initial chapters serve as a compelling barometer of the strengths and weaknesses of the entire manuscript. Even if you've already completed your book, this service remains invaluable, as it serves as a guide for refining and elevating the remainder of your work.

Includes a one hour phone/zoom call to discuss feedback and next steps

A service for anyone writing short stories, personal essays, college assignments, artist statements, website copy, or any other short form writing under 5000 words.

A comprehensive summary letter addressing all key issues and strategies for revision.
In document comments and suggestions for change/clarity
Includes one 30-minute call to discuss feedback and next steps
